project status: proof of concept

reimagining a familiar garden tool
Coil is a contemporary reinterpretation of the watering can, challenging the expectations of an everyday garden essential. The project explores how additive manufacturing can unlock new forms and interactions that are impossible to achieve through traditional production methods.
designing for additive manufacturing
The form of Coil is driven by the unique capabilities of resin 3D printing, allowing intricate internal channels and precise geometries to be produced on consumer-grade printers. Water dynamically fills the vessel through a spiral, waterslide-like path, merging references to laboratory glassware and playful, nostalgic objects to create an engaging functional experience.
from utility to playful ritual
Coil transforms the mundane task of filling a watering can into a moment of visual interest and delight. The resulting design balances practicality with experimentation, demonstrating how digital fabrication can elevate a familiar object through both form and interaction.
