a speaker sculpted for living spaces

Bang & Olufsen set out to create a high-end wireless speaker that delivers room-filling, omnidirectional sound while reading as a refined object in the home. A key challenge was establishing a strong visual identity and tactile presence within a compact, furniture-scale footprint.

At LAYER, I helped define the design direction by translating acoustic and spatial requirements into thoughtful form and material strategies. A major contribution was developing a color, material, and finish (CMF) direction, focusing on elevated, natural materials such as oak and Kvadrat textile, tailored for domestic settings.

sculptural sound with tactility

Beosound Emerge is a slender, design-led Wi-Fi speaker that delivers wide-angle sound in a discreet form. Its book-inspired silhouette, carefully articulated front face, and premium materials give it an elevated presence despite its minimal footprint.
